Search in Contentstack
In August 2024, Contentstack made significant changes to its design and search experience.
You will find them on their website https://www.contentstack.com/blog/product-updates/discover-content-faster-with-our-new-search-experience , and here in Advanced search capabilities and Quick search.
Following we will provide best practise examples of how to make use of the advanced search.
Advanced Search Capabilities
Using the Advanced search in Contentstack, you can simplify processes. To do so
1. Open the Advanced Search (next to the Search field)
You will see the mask to set your search conditions.
Use case 1 - Filter documents of one type to easily reference them into another content type
If you need to upload more than one document of the same type to another content type, but you cannot easily identify it by its title, you can open a second tab of Contentstack and use the Advanced Search to filter the documents.
Here: Filter “References” to be added to an “Our Stories card”
Filter by Condition “Content type” and Sub-category “References”
By click on “Search” (in the right top corner) you will receive a list of all related “References” .
Use case 2 - Unlocalise / Unpublish up to 10 entries in one go
If you want to unlocalise / unpublish more than one entry in one go, you can filter your entries in the Advanced search before. This is applicable for all content types.
For unlocalizing web pages, please take care to unlocalise the web page and its content block
to ensure not show localized content any more!
Here: Unlocalize up to 10 web pages in one go
In the field “Content Type or Field” select “Content Type”
The Operator can remain “Matches”
For “Value” search and select for “Web Page”
Then add a new condition by clicking on the button “New Condition”In the field “Content Type or Field” select “Language”
Operator should remain “Matches”
In the Value field search and select the language which needs to be unlocalized (e.g. “Sweden-Swedish”)
In the new sub line the Operator should remain “Localized In”In the field “Value” unselect “Any Locales” and click the language which should be unlocalized (e.g. “Sweden-Swedish”)
Click on the button “Search” (right top corner) to search for all Web Pages for the selected language
On the search result screen all the pages which should be unlocalized can now be selected. Please note that here you “Unpublish” the localized version!
To select more than one page (10 max.) the checkbox in the upper left next to “Title” can be used
Please be aware that only 10 pages at a time can be changed with a bulk request
Once selected the entries need to be unpublished for UAT and Prod.
The last step needs to be repeated till all entries to be unpublished are taken care of.
